Edinburgh Notes

Welcome to Edinburgh Notes, an eclectic selection of Edinburgh jottings. The site is partly a city guide, part a history, partly a personal collection of "best bits" and ideas for what to do and things to see whilst you're here, either as a tourist or on business. Enjoy your visit, both to this website and to the city.

All original material on this website is written by Trevor Mendham, an Englishman now living and working in Edinburgh, capital of Scotland. Over the years I've been here I've worked as a tour guide on Royal Mile walking tours, ghost tours and the bus tours - so I've picked up a lot of local knowledge and lore not found in the normal guidebooks.

I hope you find some of it interesting, whether you're a tourist or a local, and that it gives you some ideas for where to go and how to spend your time. Edinburgh has a fascinating and sometimes dark history as well as being home to some of the most popular of Scotland's attractions. There are certainly many points of interest in the city.

Everything on here is as accurate as I can make it, however things change over time. Please contact any venue or attraction for latest details on pricing, opening times, etc.
